I met Jack Brereton in Cambridge Mass for dinner and he is doing
well as the head of a foundation at the Boston Athenaeum providing
support to young writers. As I told Jack I missed seeing the
cigarette drooping from his hands as we were likely to see back at
St Peter's. It was a good reunion and we discussed some of the fond
events of our earlier days and went over the many paths of life and
its challenges. Jack has children and he travels to France, his
favorite destination. We both go to the same small town in eastern
France and attribute that to Brother Henry and our French classes at
St Peter's!

I had dinner last night at the Richmond County Country Club with
Tony Brown, our senior year English teacher. There was one of his
students from Port Richmond high school also who had just retired as
a detective from the NYPD. It was a bit scary to see a retired
police officer looking like my son! Tony sends his regards to all,
told him of the web site but he still lives in the world of the
slightly connected, he uses a pager! We spent time with him quizzing
me again on iambic pentameter etc...never could understand that
material but I guess it comes with being tone deaf. Tony looks well,
has had some bumps along the way but continues to have the same old
spark.
